“Bobbilipuli”, which featured Padmasri N.T.R. as a vigilante, was one of the most talked about films of early 80s. The film got extra publicity and hype especially after it ruffled the feathers of the censor board. VijayaMadhavi Pictures, the makers of the film, got the release strategy right (scan 2) and it seized the box-office by collecting more than 13 lakh rupees on its first day (scan 4). It also set a new record for South Indian films by grossing more than 71 lakh rupees in its first week itself (last scan). The film lost its steam mid-way but nevertheless completed its 100 day run in 39 centres (centres list will be added soon).
