“Brahmaputrudu” list!

I am not sure why 28 shows next to Anakapally – SriLashmi Theatre is called out in the ad.  Guess, this is the first film to get that many  in a single theatre in the centre (at least in Slab?) .

Once upon a time in Tollywood – VI

Battlefiled Gunadala (VJY) : Venky’s Brahmaputrudu did well in Gunadala (VJY) by collecting Rs 68,124/- in its first week at Vinayaka theatre. But it was not a theatre record as Krishna’s “Muddaayi”  collected Rs 73,992.50/-  with 34 shows in the same theatre 11 months before. Brahmaputrudu (Jul 88) collections were marginally better than those of “Dongodocchaadu” (Feb 88) – Rs 66,914/-. Ticket prices were slightly increased again in the latter part of 1987 or early 1988.

Clarification on Kavali I Week revenues in 1986!

Nellore District Wide Chiranjeevi fans claimed DongaMogudu 10 days collections of 71, 316/- in 1987 as a record in Kavali. But as per the second ad issued by the exhibitor (Venkateswara Talkies), Kaliyuga Pandavulu created a new town record by collecting 74, 071 in 1 week itself in the same theatre 6 months before.

Vijetha Vikram!

Known Fact: Hyderabadi beauty Farha and her younger sister Tabu both debuted through films featuring Venkatesh in the lead role. This is a variety record for Venkatesh.

Little known fact: Vijetha Vikram is stunt master VikramDharma‘s first movie.

After this movie, the producers syndicate from Nellore never made any films in Telugu. They made a movie called New Delhi in Hindi. Farmer’s outspoken nature and her indiscipline costed her dearly. Every other issue of Stardust used to mention about her idiosyncrasies during nid 80s.
