Srinivasa was billed as the biggest non- A/C theatre in the two Telugu Speaking States ! It’s per show gross capacity was Rs 2,700.15/- (based on Sardaar Paaparayudu’s I week collections of 70,203.90 with 26 shows) in 1980!! Per the above ad, Bhaktha Siriyala, had an average occupancy of 67% for 28 days in Eluru!!
Bhaskar Theatre’s per show capacity was 2604 in 81 and this was in early 80. 86% occupancy for an off-beat film is too impressive.
With 2925/- Rs Gross per show, Urvashi A/C was the biggest theatre in terms of revenues. Alankar A/C’s gross per show was around 2748/- Rs during that time.
Few days before i came across an interesting pamphlet shared by Mr. GNR@ rao_Goka on Twitter, which has Sr fans of Legendary A.N.R. claiming 8 Housefull shows of Sreevaari Mucchattlu (Jan ’81) @Navrang theatre in Kurnool on its first day as a State Record (image 1) . But Superstar Krishna’s “Deevudicchina Koduku” had 8 full house shows on its first day @ Raghuveer Theatre, Ananthapur almost 10.5 months before (image 2). Hence, Sreevaari Mucchattlu could only level the State Record but not better it.
