Repati Swaraajyam was Sarada’s own film. It clashed with Relangi Narasimha Rao’s Rotation Chakravathry at the box-office on 22/5/1987. Interestingly, Sarada paired up with Dasari Narayana Rao in Rotation Chakravarthy. Thaayaaramma Thaandavakrishna also released on the same day.
Arjun’s Konaseema Kurroodu (27/11/1986) was faring well at Apsara A/C Vijayawada. Despite collecting more than 2,54,000/- in three weeks, it was shifted to Radha theatre on 18/12/1986 as the exhibitors had a prior commitment with the distributors of Chanakya Sapatham (see the chart below) in Krishna District. Konaseema Kurroodu was released just 6 days of Arjun’s other straight Telugu movie Cowboy No 1(21/11/1986).
Srinivasa was billed as the biggest non- A/C theatre in the two Telugu Speaking States ! It’s per show gross capacity was Rs 2,700.15/- (based on Sardaar Paaparayudu’s I week collections of 70,203.90 with 26 shows) in 1980!! Per the above ad, Bhaktha Siriyala, had an average occupancy of 67% for 28 days in Eluru!!
Box – Office Fact: Natabhushana Sobhan Babu is the first hero to have two direct 50 days movies in the same theatre in the same year in Srikakulam town. His Pandanti Jeevitham and Illalu completed their 50 days run @ SriLakshmi Theatre in 1981. No other movie ran for 50 days in this theatre.
